The Times, 13.12.2004:

«Long-termism is a rare trait to find in football management. Rosenborg’s policy was probably rooted in the strong personal opinions of Nils Arne Eggen, the man who led the club to the first 11 Norwegian championships and has just returned as a consultant, aged 63.»

Les mer: Rosenborg: A study in managing resources

Aftonbladet, 11.11.2004

Mesost. Leverpastej. Inlagd sill. Makrill i tomatsås. Lax.

Les mer: Rosenborg – så in i Norden bäst

B.T., 12.08.2002:

Svenske Sportmagasinet plukket i forrige nummer ut "dom tio häftigasta matcharna i Champions League".

Smile

Mimrer litt i gamle arkiver...

http://www.vg.no/pub/vgar...id=7854490

Quote:
A bakery has received death-threats for selling Vålerenga IF-branded bread in Lillestrøm SK country. A low-key bread war has been bubbling under the surface in Norway ever since the Martin Nordby bakery started to produce the 'VIF'-branded bread. Last week, employees of the Kiwi grocery store in the Oslo suburb of Bærum refused to sell the bread due to an email campaign by supporters of local side Stabæk IL. However, worse was to come when irate fans in a shop in Lillestrøm threatened a female employee's life and pledged to damage her car, puncture her tyres and set fire to her house if she continued to sell the disputed loaves. "It's completely impossible for us to have control over what fans do in their free time," said Lillestrøm spokesman Petter Olafsen. "But it's clearly an unfortunate development when they begin to threaten a bakery employee." The bakery, meanwhile, said it was "relatively shocked" by the news. A uefa.com source in Oslo added: "If you think this is bad, wait until they get their first delivery of Rosenborg BK-branded fairy cakes."

Her er to oppkjøringsaker foran kampen på lørdag:

Sunday Mail, 21.08.2005

ALEX McLEISH insists he wants to follow Rosenborg's lead and turn Rangers into Champions League regulars.

"Rosenborg are one of the best examples of continued success in the Champions League.

"Granted they've only gone beyond the first group stage once but they've been there nine out of the last 10 seasons and could make it 10 in 11 this week.

"Prestige-wise I'd love to do a Rosenborg and be there every year and get to the stage where people are saying 'There's Rangers in it again'.

(...)

McLeish stressed the importance of Rosenborg managing to keep continuity in their team, something he has never been able to do at Rangers.

Finances have often dictated he has had to sell his best players.

And he said: "Rosenborg built up a momentum, they had the same group of players to work with for two or three years.

"There's nothing like having a group that understands each other.

"Humiliated at home after 13 years in a row as Norway's champions, Rosenborg Trondheim have won international consolation with a place in the Champions League... "

"...In Norway, by contrast, Rosenborg have the modest ambition of avoiding relegation after a wretched run this year rooted in years of poor coaching, a leaky defence and an ageing squad."

Expressen, 14.09.2005

"Lyons next opponents in Group F, ROsenborg, came out on top of a game with plenty of twists before Oyvind Storflor put the result beyound doubt in stoppage time.
Olympiakos went in front courtesy of the first goal of the night by Alejandro Lago. Per Ciljan Skjelbreid levelled for the Norwegians, who went 2-1 up just after halftime when DImitris Mavrogendis put trough his own net"

This week's feature at UEFA.com, 27.09.2005

"If Rosenborg are relegated this year, it will be the biggest sensation in Norwegian footballing history. Remember, this is not a freak result from a cup game, this is being relegated after 26 league games," former Norway coach Nils Johan Semb says.

(...)

Rosenborg director of football Rune Bratseth stated at the start of the year that this was the club's best squad ever. The reality has shown Bratseth to be wrong. Some players seem past their peak, and the trademark slick moves at high tempo have gone almost completely missing.

(...)

"I can't really explain what is happening to us in the league," sighed Høgmo. "It is almost like the X-Files. You have to see it to believe it."

The Times, 03.10.05

(...) the kings of Norway have not only been dethroned but threatened with removal from their domain: hopes of a fourteenth successive championship for Rosenborg are long gone and with three games of this season remaining, they are in danger of relegation.

(...)

Nils Skutle, the Rosenborg managing director, admits that his club have been too insular, wrongly assuming that continuing with Eggen’s attacking 4-3-3 formation would guarantee further domination. "When you take coaches from inside the club, it’s not so easy to get a new way of thinking," Skutle said.
