Thought I'd start a topic but after today's result it will probably be a a bit un-interesting with the fact we're out!
A bit embarrasing losing to Kristiansund on penalties? Or good because we can concentrate on the league and Stabaek only got 1 point today?
I noticed that we had a strong enough team out today, guess this is what can happen in the cup. I would have thought with Kristiansund being close to Trondelag, and maybe us having some support there, they might just have let us progress without too much hassle.
The double if off for another year. |

As Kristiansund BK is a new club (co-op between CFK and KFK), this was the first really big match and their players knew it.
Nevertheless we should have finished them off in 90 minutes, and at least not letting them in after Strand's 0-1 leader. |

True, although you can't take anything away from the last gasp equaliser from Snekvik. I think, especially after today, we should have use them as a exchange club. We could loan them players and vice versa, Snekvik for example outshone JS Aas today.
And offcourse they're a "BK" like RBK. |

We're already working together with Ranheim from Trondheim. They are in the same division and they might win a promotion to Adeccoligaen this year. It looks promising. |

Really dislike Molde, but when they at the end win, it's really great they smash clubs like Brann. |

What happened there? Well, in the end you just lose the game, losing 1-0 or 8-0 makes no difference in the cup with a one-legged fixture set-up. Brann just need to erase this night ouf of their heads ASAP and pretend it was just a loss like any other.
I do hope Molde won't win the cup, I would dislike them being in Europe while RBK are not... Well, let's not think of that scenario too soon... _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!

Stabaek safely through tonight, the winner will be one of: Odd, Stabaek, VIF and Molde!
Stabaek have to be favourites, they have so much quality. I really thought they'd miss Tchoi, perhaps as much as FFk miss Elyounoussi, but they've found a good replacement in Farnerud. QuestionL How can they afford all of this quality? Do they have a strong number of financial backers?
I ask this as they're attendance tonight was just over 3,000 and they don't attract that many supporters for league games either. (Though this might increase when they move to the Fornebu Arena.) |

Hopefully, yes If Rosenborg finish 4th, Stabæk winnning the cup is the only way to Europe this season. I'm afraid we won't finish top three this year, but the 4th place is currently three points away.
After a "nice" bunch of red cards this season, we'll most likely not win the Fair Play table either. |

What can we read into in regards to VIF's 4-1 Cup Final triumph today?
Will it make Stabaek more hungry next season to win all the prizes? Or will VIF be RBK's main title rivals?
I suppose it all depends on the additions (and deparutes) from each team over the winter break. VIF seem to have a decent defence and if Moa/F.Holm can score, they might be in with a shout.
Great result for them today no matter what. |

Great for them, but I think it was a coincidence that they reached the final, and the victory was probably down to Stabæk relaxing too much after winning the league.
I can't see VÃ¥lerenga going anywhere under Andresen. He just doesn't have any experience and don't seem to respond very well when things are going badly. However, if they can get a new head coach and start building for the future, then they should logically be back in the title race within a couple of years.
Only problem is that the norwegian league keeps defying the rules of logic.. |

I would not put conclusions on the cup win neither. Look at other countries, the national cups have been won in several countries by teams who are nowhere close a Champions League ticket. Valerenga had a mediocre season just like us, even worse than us even, but were lucky to have the cup to masquerade their very poor Tippeligaen season.
Fact is that since our 13-in-a-row ended, no other team managed to follow in our footsteps and become a dominant force for multiple years. Maybe Brann came a bit close with one championship and a few times they narrowly missed the trophies, but then Valerenga never confirmed their high hopes after winning the championship in 2005, Brann did not manage to win the league twice in a row as they were hoping, and I am sceptic as well about Stabaek suddenly becoming the next best thing in Norwegian football. The teams seem to struggle to confirm all high expectations after booking their first successes.
Now I do think this is a good thing though: the Tippeligaen is unpredictable which means more fun for the neutral fan, and because the other teams fail to win multiple trophies in a short term it means we should be the dominant team in the country soon enough again once we have done our own homework properly. If any team like Valerenga or Brann had suddenly started to win multiple trophies and become dominant, I would be worried about our own chances to win trophies again soon, like an end-of-an-era feeling. Now I dont have that pessimist feeling.
I would not jump to conclusions about Valerenga now, they won the cup with some luck and faced an already fulfilled team in the final. Congrats to VIF, but I want to see them fly high in the league before I would see them as a competitor for regular trophies. _________________ Rosenborg, forever pride of the North!
