PostPosted: 04.01.2005 11:51    Post subject: English version of Rosenborg Web Reply with quote

As some of you might has discovered already, the English version of Rosenborg Web has been upgraded.

The last year my two "assistants", HÃ¥vard Lindheim and Arnt Furunes, have done a great job translating Rosenborg news into English. Hopefully you have enjoyed this exclusive service.

The rest of the English website however has been beneath contempt. I, as the webmaster, take the full responsibility for this.

But now I have spent a couple of hours improving the English version of Rosenborg Web. Every section is updated somehow (surf around and take a look!). In addition to this quite a few new sections are added to the site. I have focused on information for visting supporters, and I have e.g. added a "How to get to Trondheim" guide and more information about the city of Trondheim. Hopefully this can be interesting stuff also for you who don't plan to travel to our beautiful city.

Read more: English version upgrade

I hope all users of the English version of Rosenborg Web will enjoy the upgrade of the site. I would be very thankful for your views.

Thomas, webmaster

In time for the Champions League qualifyers, the new players database is up and running. Here's the English version: First team squad

(At the Norwegian version, users probably won't see any difference.)

"haavarl" is busy at work in the moment, but here are at least two articles translated by me:

- "Didn't have the little extra"
- UEFA Cup next

Får jeg foreslå endringene: "Lacked that little something extra" og "Next stop - UEFA Cup"!?

Uansett, er lacked bedre enn didn't have! Wink

Perhaps you should add a "the" before "Uefa-cup" too?

I wouldn't. Not the way it is written with a dash and as a headline. Or rather, I don't regard it as necessary.

I considered to use it - and did actually use "lack" in the article. But now also the title is changed. Tommel'n opp!

"haavarl" should probably tell this himself, but I don't think it's so secretly: He's terrible busy at work these days, but may be set for a comeback later on. Then you may share the translation work.

Thanks, but I think it is enough with "haavarl" og "Krølle" in the moment.

But here is some freelance work:

Maybe the lerkendal360° section should be translated into English? Anyone willing to help, may post their translations in this thread.

Far from all of Rosenborg's supporters have, or will have, the opportunity to visit Lerkendal. Rbkweb.com has therefore made an exlusive guided tour to the stadium. You will be able to move by using the mouse.

Lerkendal360 offers many great panorama pictures. Like the name implies, you will have the opportunity to scroll the pictures to be able to see the full 360 degrees of them! It is not at all your regular "flat" photography.

We hope that this exlusive service will be to your tastes. Be aware that downloading these pictures might take some time, and that they require your browser to support Java.

All the panorama pictures, except the one taken from the midcircle (22.11.02), were shot the 13.06.03.

I overlooked two important things:

"Opplev norsk fotballs Mekka" = "Experience the "Mecca" of Norwegian Soccer"

Choose your panoramapicture:
1. The midcircle
2. The substitutes bench
3. The TV-platform
4. The hot dog stands
5. The Foajé/main entrance
6. The Kjernen-stand
7. The Rosenborg Shop
8. The Adidas-stand
9. The away fans section.

I'm not certain about number four, since it is technical lingo. I wouldn't know what it would be called in Norwegian either.

While the originally turkish (actually middle persian) word "Kiosk" exists in english, its meaning is closer to that of "newsstand" the way I feel it is used. But it does also mean booth. So you could use it, but I feel that my original translation is more fitting. However, it is up to 2mas Wink

You're right! Kiosk is more like Narvesen with newspapers and magazines.

"Food & beverage" is commonly used.

Thanks! I actually made that very same mistake yesterday when writing this thing: http://www.rosenborg.info...ticle/4011

I wrote exiting (which means leaving Wink as you all know) instead of exciting. Luckily I later discovered my mistake Wink Proof reading is a good thing!
