He-he...
Good to be warned!
I serious think you guys will get two very hard games against BATE Borisov, who was impressive in last year's Intertoto-cup.
Nevertheless I hope you beat them, and come on a trip to beautiful Trondheim! |

From Bohemians' official website:
Should "Bohs" get through to round 2 then we will face the mighty Rosenborg at home on July 30th and away a week later.
FC BATE Borisov (65 miles North East of Minsk) are currently one of the most successful sides in Belarus having not finished outside the top two in the League Championship since 1998, while their record in European competition is equal to most Irish clubs.
In 2000, they were knocked out of the Champions League at that stage by Helsingsborg while Milan stopped them in the UEFA Cup in 2001. On each occasion they comfortably progressed through the first qualifying round and they are sure to present a tough test for the Gypsies on this occasion.
At present, FC BATE are fourth in the Belarus Championship table after nine rounds of games.
If Bohemians can overcome the Eastern Europeans, they will face an even tougher test against Rosenborg. The Norwegians have made a habit of qualifying for the latter stages of the Champions League over the last ten years.
Although not as strong as in recent years, they have started the Norwegian season strongly to top the table by ten points after ten games.
The first leg against BATE Borisov is away on July 16 with the return leg on July 23. If Bohs qualify for the second round, the first leg will be at Dalymount Park on July 30 with the return leg in Norway on August 6.
"Mighty Rosenborg" - good to see that you got respect for the White and Black Vikings! 8)
"Although not as strong as in recent years" - that's wrong! This year's side is the best in many years! We got a new coach, Ã…ge Hareide, and he has managed to get the best out of the "old" players + bought some new, good players. |

You may have your best team in years but you do not have a certain KEVIN HUNT in it !!
Anyway, here's hoping you get a chance to witness Kevin Hunt in action against you in the second round.. and then you can tell your grandchildren that you actually saw the great Kevin Hunt play _________________ And on the Seventh Day, God created Kevin Hunt!
Kevin Hunt - Probably the greatest Bohemian ever! |

Bohemians - BATE 3-0 (3-1 agg.)
Then we have:
30/07: Bohemians - Rosenborg
06/08: Rosenborg - Bohemians
A good draw for Rosenborg, I think. We'll make it into the 3rd round! |

Rosenborg coach Ã…ge Hareide said this when Bohemians had won 3-1 tonight:
"That's OK for us. Looking on pracital aspects, it's far easier for us to travel to Dublin than to Belarus."
Hareide doesn't fear the Irish:
"They are good fighters, but they are not that skillfull," Hareide, who watched the first BATE - Bohemians meeting, says.
I think we Rosenborg supporters believe in our coach's words... To be honest, we fans know almost nothing about the eircom League. Therefore I think we also look at Bohemians as a very small club (and opponent).
Rosenborg didn't have trouble with Shelbourn in 2000 (3-1 agg.), and we fans don't think the Irish will make a hell for us this time neither. |

id fancy bohs to win this tie 27-0 on aggregate. i know most bohs fans would be expecting at least a 40-0 plus aggregate score but i think yer previous champions league experiences will stand to you and thats why 27-0 is more realistic. |

I'm trying to get 5 programmes from the game in Trondheim - happy to exchange 5 from the game in Dublin. I can send the programmes first if you wish. I'd also like to get 2 ticket stubs if possible - can do the same exchange.

Well 2mas, the games against Bate were not too tough, so we are rather hoping that Rosenborg can give us two tough matches instead !
Hope you are coming to Dublin ! |

Is the 1-0 win over 'Lautern Bohemians' best performance in Europe? Have you ever gone through to the second round? (I see this was a 1st round game in the UEFA Cup...) |

The 2-1 win away to AC Milan in December 1996 was even better; we did go through to the quarter finals, while they were knocked out of the competition! |

our manager stephan kenny is a good fan of rosenborg,he wants bohs to follow in your footsteps, the fans have the upmost respect for rosenborg as you have been impressive in the champions league in recent years, sadly bohs can't boast about playing real madrid or ac milan as we have gotten weak teams in europe over the past few years.aberdeen and kaiserslauton were the biggest in years and in both matches we did not look out of place.in the second leg against bate we played superb with the powerfull colin hawkins at the back and the son of god kevin hunt in the middle.your assistant sounds a bit of an arsehole if he thinks bohs are not technically good as we have two of the fastest and fustrating wingers of lower european football.i think we can beat you as your not milan or man u and we have the belief that we can.if you come out with an away goal in dalymount you will be in the driven seat but i think you will need more than one away goal as bohs are bound to score and the real question is how many . |

To every Bohs fans, who think we Rosenborg fans are too cocky:
If Bohemians - Rosenborg had been a single leg cup final etc., I would have been nervous. But this is a two legs "battle", and even though RBK might lose in Dublin, they will go through.
10-15 years ago Rosenborg had problems with two legs games in Europe. They often won home at Lerkendal, but lost heavily away. The games against Besiktas in 1995 (4-3 agg.) was the turning point. Then we qualified for the Champions League for the first time, and since then we have managed it 8 times in a row, which no one else has managed - not even Bayern München or Real Madrid has participated 8 times in a row!
Rosenborg's last really good team was the 1999 team, which did go through to the second group phase after just five of six matches - in a group with giants like Feyenoord and Borussia Dortmund (and Boavista).
The last three Champions League seasons (2000/01, 2001/02 and 2002/03) Rosenborg has struggled to impress in the group stages. Last year we didn't actually win a single match (4 draws and 2 loses). Nevertheless we have beaten clubs like Celtic and Ajax on aggregates; 2-1 and 1-1 (more away goals).
This year Rosenborg has the best team since the 1999 season. While our old coach, the legend Nils Arne Eggen - the most winning in Norwegian football, maybe was a bit on his way down from the top the last seasons, our new coach, Ã…ge Hareide, now has improved our game. Especially is our defensive play much better now.
Rosenborg's "central line" is one of the best ever: Espen Johnsen (goalkeeper), Erik Hoftun (central defender), Ørjan Berg (central midfielder) and Frode Johnsen (striker).
Espen Johnsen
Goalkeeper Espen Johnsen has for many years been selected as one of Norway's biggest talents. This season is actually Johnsen's first as first choice in Rosenborg. That's because Arni Gautur Arason (keeper the last three seasons) has rejected to sign a new contract, and was put on the bench. Even though Espen Johnsen is just 23 years old, he has plenty of experience: senior and U21 national games for Norway, premier division play for Start Kristiansand.
Erik Hoftun
Our captain, Erik Hoftun, is like a teenager again. The 34-year-old is almost better than ever before, and he rules the central defence. His best skill is his "reading of the game". He is Norway's best central defender, but because of family matters, he won't play anymore for the national team.
Ørjan Berg
Ørjan Berg, 35 years old, has played on left midfield in Rosenborg's 4-3-3-formation the last seasons, but when legendary Bent Skammelsrud (11 league championship in a row as hounors) retired last season, Berg was putted on the central midfield. This was a very good move, and Berg has been excellent this season. In May football experts in Norway even said that Ørjan Berg is good enough for Real Madrid's starting line-up together with Zidane and Figo!
The playmaker is excellent "to make his teammates doing well", and he can do the most with the ball and score goals. The 35-year-old seems 10-15 years younger!
Here in Norway, the Berg-family is famous. Ørjan's father, Harald "Dutte" Berg, is/was one of the best footballers in Norway ever. He played for Bodø/Glimt and Lyn in Norway. He did also play in Holland, for FC Den Haag. He made one big mistake in his career: He said no when Feyenoord wanted to sign him from Lyn. Right after Feyenoord won the European cup...
But it isn't only Ørjan and his father who is famous in the Berg-family. Ørjan's two younger brothers are pro footballers too. Runar Berg plays now for Bodø/Glimt, but has earlier played for Venezia in Serie A (has met Inter in other words) and ... Rosenborg The youngest of the brother, Arild, plays now for Lyn (his father's former club) and is one of the big talents in Norway.
Frode Johnsen
On top we got Frode Johnsen, which together with Harald Brattbakk (ex Celtic) are goal scoring machines! The last years they have both fought for being the topscorer in the league. Right now Johnsen (10 goals so far) leads on Brattbakk (9 goals).
Frode Johnsen replaced John Carew, which was sold to Valencia, in the summer of 2000. Just weeks later Johnsen was the over-all topscorer in the Champions League! He scored 5 goals in 6 group phase matches, but since Rosenborg was knocked out, he was a bit behind on the list when the Champions League season ended in May the following year. |

Rosenborg kan måtte spille med et helt nytt midtstopperpar i onsdagens kvalik-kamp i Dublin, ettersom at både Erik Hoftun og Vidar Riseth er usikre. I tillegg sliter Frode Johnsen.
